About me

Hi!  I’m Deanna, and I love to cook and create gluten free recipes.  This creativity sprang to life in 2006 when I was diagnosed with celiac disease.  Ironically, I am a nurse and work in an endoscopy center.  I assist with exams done to help diagnose celiac disease.  However, I did not have the usual symptoms associated with celiac disease and my diagnosis was first done through blood work.  To say I was surprised was an understatement!  After 3 months on a gluten free diet, many vague symptoms (for example hair loss, mild stomach aches) that I had come to accept as routine life went away and I have never looked back.

I live in the Colorado at 5,000 feet elevation and have realized that gluten free flours do not always “behave” at this altitude.  I have done a lot of research and ‘tinkering’ to create recipes that will turn out, and to adapt old favorites to gluten free flours.  I love to share these findings, and to learn from others new ideas and recipes.

I have three girls,  one who recently married, one in college, and one still at home.rsz_dsc_2498

I am married to a very supportive man, who is always willing to help taste my creations and has been so encouraging to me in this huge life change.wedding

When not working, or in the kitchen, I love to garden, read and hike in the beautiful Colorado outdoors.  I love living in Colorado, and one of my favorite ways to spend a day is in the mountains of this beautiful state.
